01 September 2009 - Thermaflex Products Receive CHPS Approval
ABBEVILLE, SC - Thermaflex is proud to announce that a number of their products have received certification by the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS). The CHPS criteria address site and materials selection, energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality and provides sustainable policies and innovations that can be adopted by schools and districts. Thermaflex processed seven products - MKC, MKE, GKM, STL, SLP-10, SLD and EverClean - through CHPS and they were found to contribute to CHPS ultimate goal, high performance schools.
The Thermaflex products were accepted because of their GreenGuard Children and Schools Certification, low VOC level and data provided that showed their acoustical benefits. The products also have earned the GreenGuard Microbial certification by resisting and inhibiting the growth of mold and mildew.
CHPS certification can help schools achieve increased energy efficiency and utilities savings, heightened student performance, and improved student, staff and faculty health.
High Performance design is a health and comfort issue. Day lighting has been shown to increase student learning. High indoor air quality is essential for teacher and student health. Good design produces more comfortable environments with proper illumination, air temperature, humidity, and noise reduction. This reduces distractions and creates environments where students can see clearly, hear accurately, and be thermally comfortable.
Currently the following states have adopted the CHPS program: CA, CO, TX, MA - Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC), NY - New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), WA - The Superintendent of Public Instruction for Washington State and The Northeast - ME, VT, NH, RI & CT - Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP).

12 December 2007 - Thermaflex® Commercial Flexible Ducting Earns Greenguard Certificaion for Children and Schools New certification program promotes low-emitting products and materials
Abbeville, SC (USA) - December 12, 2007 - Thermaflex, a leading flexible duct manufacturer, announces that its Thermaflex Pro Series flexible duct products for commercial HVAC use have earned the stringent new GREENGUARD® Certification for Children and Schools.
The new program, an extension of the GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certification Program, uses the most rigorous product emissions criteria to date to create a product certification for low-emitting products and materials suitable for use in daycare and school facilities. The program serves to help protect children from exposure to high levels of potentially harmful chemicals released by many products used indoors.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), approximately half of all schools in the U.S. have problems with indoor air quality-with indoor air as much as 100 times more polluted than outside air. Children spend a large amount of their time in the more than 120,000 public and private schools in the country and are more susceptible to pollutants because they breathe in proportionately more air than adults. Indoor pollutants, therefore, can have a much greater effect on children than adults.
"For our children to excel, they must be given the chance to learn and develop properly in classrooms that will not make them sick," said John Weyker, director of Thermaflex's commercial HVAC division. "Thermaflex is dedicated to providing products and materials that will help promote healthy indoor air quality so our children and teachers can thrive in healthy environments."
The GREENGUARD Children and Schools Product Certification Program complies with the State of California's Department of Health Services Standard Practice for testing chemical emissions from building products used in schools. Products earning the certification can be used toward earning credits in the CHPS Best Practices Manual for K-12 schools.

05 November 2007 - Thermaflex EverClean™ Earns ENERGY STAR® Partnership Insulated flexible air duct promotes indoor air quality, provides efficient air delivery
Abbeville, SC (USA) - November 05, 2007 - Thermaflex, a leading flexible duct manufacturer, announces that its new EverClean™ residential flexible duct has earned the prestigious ENERGY STAR Partnership.
The Energy Star program, developed in 1992 by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), helps identify and promote products that are energy efficient. Companies carrying the symbol allow businesses and consumers to save money while also protecting the environment. To be an ENERGY STAR Partner, a company must meet strict energy efficiency guidelines-operating significantly more efficiently than its counterparts while maintaining or improving performance and service.
EverClean is a premium quality, flexible duct for use in home heating and cooling systems. The duct resists mold and mildew growth earning the GREENGUARD® certification, promoting indoor air quality, while an internal lining provides efficient air delivery. The liner and reinforced, metalized vapor barrier work in combination to supply a double air seal, preventing leaks and therefore reducing energy costs while providing constant comfort.
Not only does the ENERGY STAR program encourage manufacturers to provide efficient products and services, it also encourages consumers to help protect the environment by choosing quality products that will conserve energy and save money in the long run," said Dave Oehlers of Thermaflex. We are honored that Thermaflex EverClean has been recognized by the ENERGY STAR program, and we will continue to provide reliable products and services to help improve the health of our customers and care for our environment at the same time."
